imaginary landscapes
In 1997 I graduated from the Art Academy in Enschede, where I spent several years exploring the possibilities of various digital media. This resulted in a series of video works and digital paintings. Since graduating, my video and computer-based work have been exhibited in several countries around the world.
I’ve had an eye condition since 2020 which limits my ability to do focused work. Despite this limitation, I managed to find a creative outlet in designing imaginary landscapes in a small photo studio, using ordinary materials such as glossy cardboard, iridescent foil, and fabric.
Although I can only photograph for short periods at a time, I still find it very rewarding. It brings me comfort and creates a colorful imaginary world to drift away into. It feels like a search for new worlds—places where I would love to wander or sit by the shore.
Nature imagery and vivid colors are signature elements in my work. I select my images in such a way that they evoke a specific atmosphere — one of calm and harmony, but also, at times, one of solitude or unease.
Actively networking and promoting my work has unfortunately become difficult for me. If you are interested in my work, please feel free to contact me at lindahoen@icloud.com
